Blue Water Records is a privately owned and operated music label that exists for the primary purpose of bringing some attention to certain genres and to certain artsts that we feel are underexposed in the music industry.

We are not your stereotypical music label. Unlike the majors, we do not focus on profit margin nor do we feel a release or an artist is unworthy if it fails to go platinum. Rather, we feel that the proper goal of a label is to provide essential services for artists, provide much-needed exposure for those artists, and to "break even" financially, for lack of a better term. In other words, we desire financial self-sufficiency but are not "in this for the money", so to speak.

To the consumer, all this means nothing if the music doesn't come through, and so we are likewise dedicated to publishing only high quality music from some of the best musicians around. We work hard to carefully select those titles we will release and to ensure they reflect the BWR spirit and ethic. To the artist, BWR represents a new and independent means of getting music out to the listening public. BWR offers several novel services that artists often find useful:

Electronic Commerce - the BWR store offers a convenient and easy way for artists to bring their releases to market. We do all the legwork of accounting, inventory management, and sales fulfillment, so the artist can focus on making music, promoting their music, and bonding with their fans.
Digital Marketplace - some time ago, BWR began to participate in the online digital music store phenomenon, sometimes known as the "iTunes revolution". In short, every BWR release is available for sale on nearly every major online digital store, including iTunes, MSN Music, Rhapsody, Sony Connect, eMusic, Napster, and many many others. Through our partnership with our distributor, IODA, we are able to reach many markets and channels that are unavailable to other labels.
Radio Placement - BWR has a strong history of success in achieving radio airplay for our artists' music, both via terrestrial/FM broadcasts and via net radio broadcasts. Our artists have been played many times on Musical Starstreams, Star's End, Echoes, Galactic Travels, New Age Sampler, Secret Music, SomaFM, M.O.P.S., Lounging Sound/Toxicant Radio, and many others. We find radio placement to be one of our primary and most immediately successful marketing efforts, and so we put a premium on maintaining good relationships with all of the major radio venues.
Cross-Promotion - one of our most powerful marketing paradigms is the notion of cross-promotion. BWR is truly a team effort in that every bit of promotion each artist does for their own music also acts as a small bit of promotion for all the other BWR music by other artists. When a consumer comes to the BWR site looking for a specific release, they may often times find themselves additionally interested in other similar releases by other artists. Thus, one artist's success can translate into success for multiple artists. We call this phenomenon "the rising tide that lifts all boats", and it is one of BWR's primary fundamental strategies.
Community - also unlike some other labels, we strongly encourage our artists to communicate and work together, both on marketing and on music itself. By joining BWR, an artist is not only releasing music but they are joining a group of like-minded individuals. We think this is also of supreme importance.
